The first post
So here is a bit of the story behind the story.
Obviously I am not going to come out and say exactly what this book is about - I wouldn't want you all stealing my ideas. But I hope you'll get to understand enough to keep you interest so that maybe, should it ever be printed, you will rush out and by it.
Who knows, maybe in a year or so when it is published and I am world famous, you will all be able to say you were there when it was just a echo in my thoughts.
Anyway, I have been in love with the idea of writing pretty much since I could. I long wanted to be a writer, but for most of my teenage years that feeling went as I did all the normal teenager stuff. When I was about 18, I suddenly 'remembered' that a writer was what I wanted to be.
Several years have passed and I have completed two very good writing course which have undoubtedly improved my knowledge of basic grammar and spelling, but also of the forms and styles of writing.
And so, in the summer of 2004, I begun the process. It started with a simple plot outline of about 1000 words. I then broke that outline up into chapters, and wrote a fairly detailed synopsis for each chapter. This framework has allowed to freely go ahead a write the thing without having to worry about whether what I was writing was in the write place etc.
Of course I still have to think of the actual 'word' for the body of text, but the plot is all there in order in front of me.
Unfortunately since that time I have gone through a severe phase of lazybastarditis. I started the main body of text just under a year ago and am still not even a quarter of the way through.
I still don't know why. When I write I enjoy it, but I rarely ever get down to doing it. Well thankfully the past week has been a good one. After a good talk with my brother I decided to basically get into gear and just do it. I've written a lot over the past few days - a least an hour a day, which is good.
Of course there is a long way to go. Even once I finish the writing, I will still need to then go over the whole thing revising, redoing, updating. There is a long way to go.
But I am enjoying it.
Watch, as they say, this space.
